What is your availability?

Sessions are available year-round based on availability  the calendar books up 2-3 months in advance so be sure to book early!

  • Newborn sessions are scheduled on weekdays between 10 am - 1 pm in your home in the first month of life. Read more below.
  • Family sessions are scheduled on the weekends in the prime morning and evening lighting hours.
  • Milestone sessions (those included in the Baby's First Year Plan) may be scheduled during weekdays or weekends.

Where do you shoot?

I photograph exclusively on-location in the greater Houston area. For an in-home newborn or milestone session, please don’t fret about the condition of your space! Beautiful portrait lighting can be found anywhere, and if that’s smack dab in front of a window in your own home, I promise I will produce stunning imagery in that spot! 

For outdoor milestone and family sessions, I have several beautifully lit public spaces to recommend based on the look you want to achieve and the time of day of your session. 

When should I schedule my newborn session?

Newborn sessions are best photographed within the first month of life to capture all that sleepy, smooshy sweetness. To schedule a newborn session, contact me in your second trimester to be added to my schedule. I will make myself available in the two weeks on either side of your due date (2 before and 2 after) to accommodate the unpredicatbility of scheduling. 

What can I expect after the photo session?

After the photo session is complete, you can expect to view your images in a private, password-protected online custom proofing gallery within 3-4 weeks of the session date.

  1. Your gallery will consist of a minimum number of images for proofing  at least 20 for Seasonal Mini sessions and at least 30 for all other sessions 
  2. Proofing images are batch edited for tone, white balance, and contrast
  3. Your session will include a select number of digital files, which you will select from your gallery. For example, if your Family session gallery produces 40 proofing images, you will be able to select the 20 images you wish to download as part of your session package
  4. Once you select your images, they will be hand-edited for artistic enhancements. Final images will be delivered within two weeks after your selection is complete

Your custom proofing site will be active for 14 days. Extension fees apply if you require longer to make order selections. If the two week period that your proofing site is scheduled to be published for is not convenient for you, please let me know prior to the site going live, as extension fees apply once it is published.

Will I be able to print my photos?

In short  yes! All sessions include a limited number of hi-res digital images that you will be able to share and print up to 20" x 30" under a limited personal print release.

As the creator of the image, full copyright will always remain with Kelly Mills Photography. By purchasing one or all of the digital images from your session, you will be granted a limited copyright release. This release entitles the owner to limited ownership for personal use only which includes unlimited reproduction of images, digitally or in print, for non-commercial purposes; and for personal use and distribution at no additional charge.

My ________ (kids/husband/self) hate(s) pictures, I’m afraid they won’t turn out well!

I get it, professional photography sessions are an investment and a rare ocurrence!

At the end of the day I want you to be happy, to refer me to your friends and to return as a customer. So, please let me know if you are dissatisfied in any way. Reshoots will be at photographer’s discretion.

With that said, please keep the following in mind for a successful session:

  • Keep everyone's needs in mind when scheduling. Opt for pre- or post- nap for babies and toddlers or for when your kiddos are their happiest. Bring snacks if it's been awhile since the last meal.
  • Take care in selecting your family’s wardrobe and ensure everyone is comfortable in clothing that fits. Check out my Pinterest board if you need ideas!
  • Getting a new cut, or trying out a new lipstick? Make your appointment at least two weeks before your session and try out anything new well in advance. This tip comes from personal experience in the eye-makeup-remorse category. Ugh.

Fine print


A $150 non-refundable depost is required to book your session. This reserves your confirmed date/time on the calendar and goes towards the cost of your session. Booking guarantees pricing at the time of booking should any pricing change before your session. If you need to reschedule, the depost transfers to your new confirmed date and time. 

Hi-resolution vs. full resolution

All sessions include a select number of hi-resolution digital files. These files can be printed and enlarged up to a 20" x 30" canvas at most commercial labs. 

Full resolution files are the original size of the image as produced by the camera. As most clients have no need to print a billboard size image from their session, and due to the costs associated with processing, storing and delivering these files, they are not deliverable. 


If you need to reschedule or cancel your confirmed session, please communicate this prior to 24 hours before your session. If the request is made within 24 hours of your session, a new deposit will be required to book a different date/time. 

Exceptions will be made for inclement weather.
